Meet Mary May: The Senior Caregiver That Won Comfort Keeper Of The Year in 2014

The challenge of picking a member from our team to earn the distinction of Comfort Keeper Of The Year continues to get difficult!  The list of people who best personify our mission; “to treat our client with the respect and dignity they deserve, as if they were members of our own family”, continues to grow.  Being mindful of our Mission and what it means to be a Comfort Keeper it gives us both pleasure and pride to announce our 2014  winner, Mary May!  Mary May joined Comfort Keepers 4 and ½ years ago and from the start she proved to be someone with an almost reservoir of Compassion and Skill.  Mary has worked with many clients, including those difficult end-of-life clients where Mary consistently displayed  her caring spirit.  One such case, a man suffering from Dementia and  living alone, had little desire or incentive to eat, Mary would visit him on  weekends to offer him home-cooked meals and a little company to brighten up his life.  This went on for over 2 years, unknown to any of us, until a family member called to thank us for Mary’s thoughtfulness.  Mary is a dedicated fitness fan and incorporates her commitment of healthy eating and regular exercise into her client’s care schedules  including the  more reluctant clients.  Her creativity don’t always succeed but it does not deter her from trying.  The fact her client’s all love her and do not appreciate it if she,  for whatever reason,  needs to be replaced, even if it is for a day. Mary May lives our Mission every day and this is why we all proudly stand beside her when she says, “I am a Comfort Keeper”.  Congratulations Mary, you deserve it.

If you are interested in joining our team of senior caregivers, check out our job openings, or submit a resume today.
